Ms. Qureshi is a development professional. She possesses more than 15 years’ experience in development profession with special focus on research, project/program management, advocacy, lobbying, networking, and capacity building.

She is currently pursuing MPhil degree leading to PhD in development studies. She has got MA in Sociology, MBA, LLM and MA (Sindhi).

Currently she is working as Manager Programmes Implementation in Indus Consortium, which is working with women and marginalized groups in 1700 villages in 17 districts of Pakistan. She is managing the tax justice project “Finance For development” and she is coordinating the Tax Justice Alliance and the trained groups of journalists and bloggers in Sindh and Punjab.

She has worked with renowned advocacy based organization Pakistan Fisherfolk Forum to work for the rights of poor fishing communities in Pakistan as Regional Program Manager- South. During this period, she worked actively for Mangroves’ issue in coastal belt, DRR in Thatta district, water rights, natural resources depletion, alternate livelihood, right to livelihood, right to education and right to health.

She has also strived for good governance and democracy in Pakistan. Recently she has rendered her services as Provincial Coordinator Sindh for Democracy Reporting International (DRI) to work with parliamentarians and civil society regarding Local Bodies Elections. In current elections 2013, she worked as lead trainer by Election Commission of Pakistan with the support of IFES to train master trainers regarding electoral process. In 2008 elections, she worked with UNDP as Provincial Coordinator for Sindh to conduct the trainings of polling staff. Afterwards, she has worked with Free and Fair Election Network ( FAFEN) in 2009 to train the staff for Democratic Governance Program and strengthening transparency and accountability in public sector. She has participated in the social awareness campaign and practically worked for the right of having CNICs, birth registration certificates and names registered in elector roll. She has also rendered her services to train the women councilors and local leaders of Benazir Income Support Program with ACT International and Aurat Foundation. She has worked on training manuals for good governance, advocacy, lobbying, women rights, Human rights, Right to Information and Gender mainstreaming.

She has worked with Sindh Rural Support Program (SRSP) initially as Program Manager and attained the position of the Executive director.

She is an alumnus of the Wilton Park’s conference (UK) on Reducing Poverty: The Roles of Parliaments, Government and Non-State Actors (2006). She possesses work/travel experiences of UK, Nepal, Bangladesh, Germany, Netherlands, Dubai, France, Italy, Rome, Vatican and Thailand. Her research paper on Gender sensitivities in Disaster Relief was accepted in IDRC 2008, Davos, Switzerland. She worked as principal researcher for Bonded Child labor in Thar Carpet Industry with PILER- Anti Slavery International. She has written several research reports, proposals and contributed articles and blogs to the leading Sindhi newspapers and sites on development issues.

She has addressed gender issues of different areas of Pakistan including earthquake areas, where she worked as gender specialist to assess the situation after 1 year of earthquake in Saran valley and Balakot, Mansehra. She has worked as social researcher throughout Sindh including Thar and Nara desert, Kohistan and coastal belt of Karachi, Thatta and Badin. She has conducted several baseline studies and third party evaluations.

She has worked with several environmental agencies as gender expert for instance Halcrow, Hagller Balley, GEMS, Teckcellent & SGS to protect the environment and environmental rights.

She has participated in several workshops on political activism, power politics, and skills for rural journalists, women trafficking, child sexual abuse and labor rights. She has delivered her speeches, presentations and lectures on Discriminatory Laws against women, child rights, Socio- economic gender sensitive indicators, Socio- economic status of women, Leadership and Conflict Resolution from the platforms of University of Sindh, Jamashoro; ActionAid, SRSP, LHDP,HRCP and SGA. She has organized provincial level events on honor killing and International Women’s’ Day.

Ms. Qureshi is the certified master trainer of International Finance Corporation (IFC).  She has ample experience to organize and impart trainings, develop or customize training material and also conduct Training Need Assessment.
